Social Values Report 2025-26
Foreword from Michele Moran, Chief Executive and Kwame Fofie, Executive Medical Director
Introduction from our Chief Executive and Executive Medical Director
At Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, we see every day that our role reaches far beyond the care we provide. As an anchor organisation we have a responsibility to use our people, our partnerships and our resources in ways that benefit the places we serve.
This report shares just some of the work happening across the Trust to support that promise. It isn’t something we are required to do, but something we’ve chosen to create because these stories deserve to be told. The stories show teams working alongside schools, colleges, voluntary groups, local businesses, service users, carers and community partners to improve health, open up opportunities and make support easier to access.
The work highlighted throughout this report shows the many different ways the Trust creates social value for local people and communities. From supporting people into employment and education, to improving wellbeing, reducing inequalities and investing in local communities, they show how the NHS can have a positive impact far beyond healthcare alone.
There is also a strong sense of partnership running throughout the report. Whether supporting fishing communities through SeaFit, helping schools improve understanding of stammering, increasing the number of babies being breastfed in Hull through targeted community support, creating pathways into NHS careers or working with community organisations to tackle inequalities, these stories show what can happen when organisations and communities work together around shared goals.
These examples reflect the breadth of what social value means within the NHS. Some demonstrate direct improvements in health and wellbeing, while others focus on confidence, inclusion, employment, sustainability, education or connection. Together, they show that improving lives is not only about treatment and care, but about helping people and communities to thrive.
This local work also matters nationally. Through our approach to prevention, reducing inequalities, supporting the NHS Net Zero ambition, developing our workforce and strengthening partnerships, we are contributing to the wider priorities of the NHS while staying focused on what matters to people across Hull, East Yorkshire and North Yorkshire.
We are proud of the examples shared in this report, and grateful to everyone who has made them possible. They remind us that when we work with our communities, listen well and think beyond traditional healthcare, we can make a lasting difference to people’s lives.
