Andrew Brown, Non-Executive Director (term of office expires 22nd April 2029)

Andrew has held senior positions in blue chip plc’s, founded, run and sold businesses, led a public sector organisation as interim chief executive, served as a non-executive director for several private companies and as a charity trustee. He is Chairman of a local community CIC which helps the Whitby community and develops the tourism trade.  

His career began as a trainee assistant buyer in Hull, and he went on to work for The Burton Group, ASDA Group and BskyB in executive positions. In 1997 he set up a company to deliver large scale consultancy programmes and within two years the company was delivering projects for household named companies across the USA, United Kingdom and Europe.  Since then and until 2020 he has undertaken a wide range of consultancy and business transformation projects for businesses such as Glaxo SmithKline, Starbucks Coffee, SIG plc, The Shepherd Group, Capita plc.

In 2008 Andrew was appointed as interim Chief Executive of YPO, a Local Authority Procurement and Supply organisation based in Wakefield. He led a major business turnaround and restructure helping the Local Authority owners/stakeholders to avoid major financial risks whilst setting the organisation on a solid footing for the future. 

In 2020 Andrew founded Welcome to Whitby CIC which went on to deliver the ‘Whitby Thank You Weekend’, a large-scale ice rink event for two seasons in 2021 and 2022, and the provision of a visitor website free to use for all hospitality businesses in Whitby.

In more recent times, Andrew has concentrated on the family hotel in Whitby, some property development projects and non-executive positions.

From April 2026 Andrew is a member of the Mental Health Legislation Committee, the People & Organisational Development Committee and the Finance Committee.
