We are delighted to announce we have been shortlisted for one of the prestigious Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2023.

Our Trust has been shortlisted for the Place-Based Partnership & Integrated Care Award for the Right Care Right Person in Hull and East Riding.

Right Care, Right Person (RCRP) is an operational model developed in collaboration with Humberside Police that changes the way the emergency services respond to calls involving concerns about mental health. The project aims to make sure that people experiencing menta health issues will be attended to by medical professionals as the priority rather than the police as a default. This strategy has been shown to improve outcomes, reduce demand on all services, and make sure the right care is being delivered by the right person.

Adrian Elsworth, General Manager, Mental Health (Unplanned) at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust said:

“I am immensely proud to be a part of this initiative which has seen a collaboration between not only our Trust and Humberside Police but also the third sector, through which we have developed innovative and patient-focussed ways in which to provide our service users with the correct care they require. It’s important not only to see the benefits delivered by Right Care Right Person in highlighting the appropriate person to provide the care, but also putting the patient’s needs at the centre of this initiative and they remain our priority.”

Michele Moran, Chief Executive, said:

“I am delighted to see Trust work once again being recognised at this year’s HSJ Awards. This is fantastic recognition of the hard work and resilience shown by our diverse teams with a real focus on our commitment to providing the highest standards of health and social care to the communities we serve.”

HSJ editor, Alastair McLellan, added:

“It always gives me great pleasure to congratulate our finalists at this stage of the judging process and this year is no exception as we acknowledge Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust for being shortlisted in the category of Place-Based Partnership & Integrated Care Award for Right Care Right Person in Hull and East Riding.”

The HSJ Awards reward outstanding contributions to healthcare and are recognised as the most esteemed accolade of healthcare service excellence in the UK. This year they received a record-breaking 1456 entries nationally for the awards. The event to unveil the winners will take place on 16th November at the Battersea Evolution Centre in London.

Well done to all our services for their hard work this year, and to all our fellow nominees for this fantastic achievement. We look forward to celebrating with you at the ceremony later this year.
