At Humber NHS Foundation Trust we understand that our staff have busy lives. We try and help make thinks a little easier by offering a wide range of benefits to help achieve a healthy work-life balance and maintain a high level of health and wellbeing.
Our current staff benefits include:
Health and Wellbeing
Corporate gym membership
Our gym membership scheme provides discounted membership to council run gyms in Hull and the East Riding.
Our Learning and Development Department offers a wide range of development and training opportunities to enhance personal skills and develop professional capabilities.
We hold our Staff Awards at our Annual Member’s Meeting in September. Each year, we recognise staff and individuals who deliver an excellent service and provide improved care for our patients and their families.
Our Occupational Health Service is an independent confidential service that provides an impartial advisory service to both employers and employees.
It supports the organisation in ensuring as far as reasonably possible, the health, safety and wellbeing of employees comes first. This in turn helps all employees to maximise the benefits of their health at work.
Employers and employees have a statutory duty of care to:
• prevent injury or illness arising from work activities as far as reasonably practicable;
• not discriminate against those with disabilities in matters of employment.
To this end, we provide advice on health effects on work and work effects on health which is both independent and fair, recognising the needs of the employers and the rights of employees. All advice provided when it concerns an individual, maintains their rights to confidentiality of personal and medical information.
An effective occupational health service supports workers and organisations in fulfilling these responsibilities.
We offer, where possible, flexible working practices such as full/part-time and flexible hours, self-rostering and job share to support our staff in achieving an excellent work-life balance.
Cycle to Work Scheme
Staff can enjoy huge savings on bikes through our Cycle to Work Scheme. Benefits include:
• up to 48% of High Street prices;
• 12 monthly payments direct through payroll;
• no credit checks;
• no finance charges.
The Cycle to Work Scheme is part of our overall health and wellbeing strategy to help staff keep fit and active and help reduce our carbon footprint.
Pay and Conditions
Agenda for Change (A4C)
The A4C system allocates posts to set pay bands using a robust job evaluation scheme. It applies to all NHS staff across the UK, except very senior manager and medical staff within the remit of the Doctors’ and Dentists’ Review Body.
The pay system is designed to:
• deliver fair pay for non-medical staff based on the principle of 'equal pay for work of equal value';
• provide better links between pay and career progression using the Knowledge and Skills Framework;
• harmonise terms and conditions of service such as annual leave, hours and sick pay, and work done in 'unsocial hours'.
Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave
Maternity leave is available to all female staff depending on the length of service; the maximum benefits may include up to a year’s leave with eight weeks at full pay and 18 weeks at half pay. Both male and female staff are eligible for adoption leave; in these circumstances, the entitlement to leave and pay is the same as those for maternity leave. Paternity leave for partners is currently two weeks full pay.
Car Lease Scheme
The Car Lease Scheme, run by NHS Fleet Solutions, is a salary sacrifice scheme open to all full-time staff.
The scheme allows staff to access a car of their choice at a very attractive price. You can find out more about the scheme on www.nhsfleetsolutions.co.uk.
