The team can support with physical wellbeing, such as back care advice, inoculations, flu vaccinations or menopause support. We also offer a staff counselling service which is delivered by own counsellors. However, where appropriate, counselling may be provided by an external agency. All our counsellors are trained in counselling or psychotherapy and are suitably experienced.

Overall, we ensure that our Occupational Health Service is designed to support you in being physically and mentally well when you come to work.

Recognition

Staff Awards

We hold our Staff Awards at our Annual Member’s Meeting in September. Each year, we recognise staff and individuals who deliver an excellent service and provide improved care for our patients and their families. Unfortunately, we have been unable to run the Staff Awards for the last two years due to the pandemic, we hope going forward that this can change.

Pay and Conditions

Agenda for Change (A4C)

The A4C system allocates posts to set pay bands using a robust job evaluation scheme. It applies to all NHS staff across the UK, except very senior manager and medical staff within the remit of the Doctors’ and Dentists’ Review Body.

The pay system is designed to:
• deliver fair pay for non-medical staff based on the principle of 'equal pay for work of equal value';
• provide better links between pay and career progression using the Knowledge and Skills Framework;
• harmonise terms and conditions of service such as annual leave, hours and sick pay, and work done in 'unsocial hours'.

Annual Leave

To support your work life balance and wellbeing, we provide our staff with a generous annual leave entitlement.

Length of service

Annual Leave

On appointment

27 days

After 5 years’ service

29 days

After 10 years’ service

33 days

The above figures are pro rata for employees working part time. An employee’s continuous previous service with an NHS employer will count as reckonable service in respect of annual leave.

Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave

Maternity leave is available to all female staff depending on the length of service; the maximum benefits may include up to a year’s leave with eight weeks at full pay and 18 weeks at half pay. Both male and female staff are eligible for adoption leave; in these circumstances, the entitlement to leave and pay is the same as those for maternity leave. Paternity leave for partners is currently two weeks full pay.

Car Lease Scheme

The Car Lease Scheme, run by NHS Fleet Solutions, is a salary sacrifice scheme open to all full-time staff.

The scheme allows staff to access a car of their choice at a very attractive price. You can find out more about the scheme on www.nhsfleetsolutions.co.uk.
