Health and care providers working across Hull and East Yorkshire are opening their Great Big Health and Care Careers Fayre to the public on Wednesday 25 October 2023. The event will take place at Doubletree by Hilton in Hull between 10am and 3pm, and admission is free.

The event is ideal for anyone who is thinking about starting a career within the NHS, changing direction, or who perhaps have, children, family or friends who may be considering a health or care career. From mental health to maternity, health visiting to elderly care, podiatry to pathology, there will be advice, information and interactive experiences available to all attendees.

Michele Moran, Chief Executive at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, said, “We are delighted to be working with local health and care providers in the area to produce this event with a fantastic display of careers on offer within the NHS. As a Trust we are exceptionally proud of the diversity in roles we have and the excellent services we provide. We would welcome everyone to come along and take a look at what we have to offer”.

More than just a careers fayre, this event is a fantastic arena to see the variety of job roles and services available within the NHS. The services have some incredible interactive displays and innovative ways to show what working within their department could look like. This is the first year since the start of the Covid pandemic that health and care organisations have come together to host such a large-scale event of this type, so now is the perfect time to join in.

Tina Jenkinson, Careers and Employability Manger, at Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership said, “Events like this are essential in developing our talent pipeline and inspiring our future workforce”.

It's a common misconception that working for the NHS is all about clinical roles but what this fayre hopes to demonstrate is how many non-clinical professions there are within the local NHS organisations. With a chance to speak to over 50 different professions on the day, opening up a range of opportunities.

Anne Burdis, Widening Participation Manager with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust says, “We’re really looking forward to meeting people at this Wednesday’s Careers Fayre. Hull Hospitals have been helping people access or advance their NHS careers through apprenticeships for the last 10 years, proving that you don’t need to have endless qualifications or university training to become a valued member of our team.

“Whatever your interest or chosen career path, we’d welcome the opportunity to help people along that journey.”

There are some fantastic experiences which aren’t to be missed on the day. From watching robots carrying out surgeries to seeing a birth simulation, and on to the lighter options of playing giant wellbeing Jenga and virtual reality experiences, there’s sure to be something to interest, inspire and amaze everyone.

Everyone is welcome but for young people who are about to start thinking about what qualifications they need to take in order to pursue a career in healthcare, it’s a fantastic place to start.

Join the Great Big Health and Care Careers Fayre, Wednesday 25 October, 10am – 3pm, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Hull. Admission is free.
