Join Health and Wellbeing Advisors to Celebrate Social Prescribing Day!

The East Riding Wellbeing and Connector service are inviting people to join them in celebrating national Social Prescriber week from 12 - 14 March 2024. There are several dates and locations with events running throughout the week.

The YOURhealth Health and Wellbeing Advisor and Connector service delivered by Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust covers the whole of the East Riding to provide personal support and motivation with changing behaviours and help reduce the risk of long-term health conditions.

Social prescribers help people in non-medical ways that support their health and wellbeing. This could be help with situations causing stress such as cost of living, improving mental health or debt and housing. It can also be improving wellbeing by taking up a new hobby, connecting with community groups or simply finding places to make new friends.

The service is showcasing the amazing voluntary, community and social enterprise services that are in the East Riding during the week at a number of community venues.

Come and meet the social prescriber team at the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday 12 March

Bridlington: Join Rose at the North Library for a knit and natter 10am-12pm

  • Wednesday 13 March

Bridlington: Come and join Rose at the North Library for a knit and natter 10am-12pm.

Goole: Alistair and Sarah will be leading a mindful wellbeing walk at 10am and 1pm.

Hessle: Join Calley at Hessle Job Centre for their wellbeing event helping jobseekers from 9am – 12pm.

  • Thursday 14 March

Hessle: Humber Bridge Country Park Hessle Wellbeing Hub: Join Alistair, Calley and Fitmums for a wellness walk around the beautiful Humber Bridge Country Park at 10am. The team will be joined by wellbeing coaches, talking therapists and the East Riding YourMoney team from 11am to experience how social prescribing can enhance wellbeing.

Bridlington: Join Rose and active communities for their accessible mixed abilities mile marker walk at Leisure World. From 10am-12pm join Rose and Acho at Bridlington Leisure World for seriously crafty Zentangle and Origami.

Beverley: John will be showcasing his work for job seekers at Beverley Job Centre from 1-4pm.

Driffield: Aaron will be on hand to help people understand the benefits of social prescribing at Driffield Market from 10am - 1pm.

Ryan Nicholls YOURhealth Team Leader, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust said, “A major aspect of the Health and Wellbeing Advisor and Connector service is to ensure that services such as ERYC libraries, church groups and foodbanks and promoted and accessed more by the general public. Helping reduce the day to day social, economic and emotional health issues we can all face day to day. The week will be a great opportunity to highlight such groups and services and give people the opportunity to experience the benefits of social prescribing”.

Any adult in the East Riding can self-refer into the Health and Wellbeing Service to receive free one-to-one support. Professionals can also refer into the service as well via a free phone number 0800 9177752.

The health and wellbeing support is designed to help set achievable goals, overcome barriers, and develop a personal plan to make positive changes for the long term. It is therefore an opportunity to tailor the support to individual needs.

Once a referral is accepted, the YOURhealth wellbeing advisor and connector team will spend up to an hour with you at each meeting, and can meet with you weekly or fortnightly, in a way that works around your life.

  • Arranging care and independent living for older people
  • Benefits, cost of living and financial challenges
  • Enriching your life with social activities
