Our Recovery and Wellbeing College has teamed up with Mental Health Mates to host a series of friendly and inclusive ‘wellbeing walks’ in areas across the East Riding of Yorkshire, throughout June and July this year.

The aim of the walks is to encourage more people to get out and about, taking positive steps to support their general health and wellbeing, meet new people in their area and enjoy the summer weather.

Each walk will be approximately 3 – 5km long, following an accessible route, to hopefully encourage a diverse range of people to come along and enjoy the fun. The walks will be held in a safe and supportive environment, with a friendly and approachable team.

The walks have also been designed to be relaxing and are an opportunity to walk at your own pace, take in the scenery, chat to others and simply enjoy your surroundings. There is no competitive or funding element – the only goal is to have fun with it!

Getting outside, frequent exercise, and time spent in nature are all things which are proven to boost our mood, so why not give it a try?

Our Recovery and Wellbeing College have teamed up with Mental Health Mates on this project, who are a nationwide peer support network which mobilises an incredible group of volunteers to lead community-based walks that help people find a judgement-free space to connect.

With over 150 walks nationwide, Mental Health Mates aim to be in every major town and city in the coming years to ensure they are reaching those who need it most.

The enthusiastic and friendly team will be coming along with us on these walks and look forward to seeing you there. Together, they believe in the power of walking and connection to act as an invaluable tool for all of us on our mental health journeys.

Rain or shine, the walks are planned to go ahead, so please do check the weather and wear the appropriate clothing when joining us. Sturdy shoes are a good place to start, as well as suncream, water and a hat if the sun decides to join us on the day!
