Give your career in healthcare a boost with the Humber Preceptorship Academy

Published: 04 September 2020

The new Preceptorship Academy is designed to welcome and integrate newly qualified Nurses and Allied Health Professionals (AHP) into the workforce and the Trust. It aims to help them enhance their skills and grow in confidence as they begin the next step in their careers.

This is an ideal programme for those who are transitioning from student to registered practitioner, for individuals who are changing their roles and for those who have been out of work for some time and would benefit from a refresher to support them back into practice.

Our Preceptorship team at Humber want you to feel supported to develop your skills, knowledge base in a safe and supportive environment.

What does the programme offer?

The academy aims to ensure a smooth transition process between student and qualified professional, building upon all of the skills and knowledge acquired in training. This is an addition support pathway which can help you in your journey to become an autonomous practitioner.

All individuals who join the programme will access resources on digital platforms such as MS Teams and have access to additional support networks on Slack. Participants will also benefit from the provision of those who have been in your shoes and understand your experience, with peer support from professionals in multi-disciplinary roles.

Melanie Barnard, Professional Education Lead at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“The new preceptorship academy offers all our newly qualified Nurses and Allied Health Professions the opportunity to come together, share experiences and gain additional support as they transition into the next stages of their careers as qualified members of staff. This is our chance to facilitate success and guide professionals through lifelong learning, to ensure they have the confidence to deliver high standards of care.”

This year’s Humber Preceptorship Academy launches on Tuesday, 15 September 2020 at 11:30am – 12:30pm. To find out more about the academy and how you can apply, please join the virtual launch meeting by clicking this link.
