Brilliant Results for our Medical Education Team

Published: 21 January 2022 to 31 December 2098

We’re proud to say that our Medical Education team have recently received some fantastic positive feedback from Health Education England on our postgraduate medical training provision.

This feedback was gathered by the General Medical Council (GMC) National Training Survey (NTS). The survey is a core part of the work carried out by the GMC to monitor and report on the quality of postgraduate medical education and training in the UK. This year there were also some new questions exploring the impact of the pandemic on training. The annual survey gives us a vital and unique insight into the experiences of more than 63,000 trainees and trainers across the UK.

Out of the 77 Mental Health Trust’s in the UK and the 56 Mental Health Trust’s in England, we have been commended on being one of the best performing Trust’s for Foundation Training and for the good level of support shown to Foundation Trainees and International Medical Graduates (IMG).

Our Core Psychiatry Junior Doctor Training Scheme also showed an increase in positive ‘green’ indicators in the GMC National Training Survey 2021, with the Trust achieving one of the best results for ‘handover’ in the UK. Further to this, the scheme has been ranked as 5th in England, 2nd in the North of England and 1st in NE Yorkshire and Yorkshire & Humber.

The National Ranking Report’ evidences a noticeable improvement here at our Trust, and we have been recognised as one of the best performing Mental Health Trusts at both a regional and national level.

Highlights include our General Psychiatry Training ranking as 3rd in England, 2nd in the North of England and 1st in NE Yorkshire and Yorkshire & Humber and at a programme level, highlights include:

Results are taken from the UK National Ranking Report, and the way that these results are decided is by a thorough analysis of data collected from doctors in training during the period 20 April – 25th May 2021.

Our Director of Medical Education passes on a note of thanks to all who have helped us achieve these fantastic results.

“As Director of Medical Education and on behalf of the Department of Medical Education, I am extremely proud of these wonderful achievements. This is really a testament to the hard work and dedication of all the staff supporting medical education. I would like to thank all those involved with medical education that have ensured this wonderful feedback.

There is a long list including the Dr Ma, College Tutor (core and GP training), Dr Chitnis, Foundation Tutor, Educational and Clinical Supervisors, Higher Training Supervisors, and all the clinical teams that support the trainees at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust. I would also like to thank our wonderful administration team Sharon, Jane, and Gillian for keeping everything running fantastically.”

This is an exceptional achievement which all involved should be extremely proud of. Well done from everyone at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
