‘Trust of the Year’: Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust shortlisted at HSJ Awards 2026

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted in the category of Trust of the Year at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2026. This award category considers every aspect of the organisation and recognises excellence across the board.

The Trust has had an incredible year with national recognition ensuring they stand out from their peers. Of this national recognition, most notably the Trust was placed in the top segment of the NHS National Oversight Framework leagues and sat in fourth place nationally in the Mental Health and Community Trust league table. As part of the Trust’s extensive staff wellbeing initiatives they also achieved second place nationally for their Flu Vaccination programme for frontline staff uptake.

Evidence of the Trust’s clinical innovation and focus has been shown in an extensive range of services including their reduction of waiting lists and work to drive rates to breastfeeding up so that Hull is now a predominantly breastfed City.

The HSJ Awards represent one of the highest standards of recognition in UK healthcare, standing the test of time for nearly half a century. The awards are independently judged by the most senior leaders across the system, with a reputation that resonates at board level, shapes the thinking of system leaders and reaches the corridors of Westminster. This year they received over 1,300 entries from organisations across the UK.

This year’s awards recognise the most impactful work happening across the NHS, driving best practice adoption at scale across the health and care sector.

In the category of Trust of the Year, the judges are looking for organisations that have taken on the biggest challenges: reducing waiting times, improving clinical quality and ensuring financial resilience, while keeping staff well-being and inclusivity at the core of their approach. The HSJ state that, ‘The winner of this award will be an organisation that is tackling these challenges head-on and setting new standards in delivering outstanding, patient-centred care.”

The winners across all 26 categories of the HSJ Awards will be announced on 19 November 2026.
