The NHS Oversight Framework ranks NHS trusts across England against a comprehensive set of performance measures designed to assess how effectively organisations are delivering care and services. It has now completed its inaugural year and Humber Teaching NHS Foundation has ended the year in 4th place against all mental health and community NHS trusts nationally.
In updated figures, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust maintained its place within Segment 1, the highest-performing category within the framework, as well as climbing from its previous position of seventh to fourth place nationally among non-acute NHS trusts.
This achievement places the Trust among the top-performing community and mental health providers in England and makes them the highest-ranked trust in the Humber and North Yorkshire ICB area. This strong ranking reflects sustained performance across a range of key areas, including quality of care, operational effectiveness, workforce, leadership and financial management.
Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust provides services across a large geographical area, stretching from Whitby in the north to Goole in the south. The Trust delivers mental health, learning disability, children's and secure services in both community and inpatient settings.
The NHS Oversight Framework is used by NHS England to assess and monitor the performance of NHS organisations, providing an overall picture of how trusts are performing against national standards and expectations.
Under the framework, trusts are grouped into performance segments, with Segment 1 reserved for organisations demonstrating the strongest overall performance. Non-acute trusts are assessed against up to 30 metrics across six key domains, with an overall score determining their national ranking. These measures include access to services, patient experiences, patient safety and staff wellbeing.
The Trust achieving fourth place at the end of the first year of the NHS National Oversight Framework highlights a continued focus on delivering high-quality care and achieving positive outcomes for patients, service users and local communities.
