Quality Improvement
The Trust has introduced a Quality Improvement (QI) approach which outlines it’s journey to fully embed a culture of Quality Improvement.
About QI
Our Quality Improvement Team is supporting the Trust on its journey to build a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
The approach is focussed on ensuring that staff has the right skills, the confidence to listen to improvement ideas from service users, carers and other members of staff and to feel empowered to lead the change.

The service offer
- Methodology – our starter methodology is the Model for Improvement (PDSA) which is used in the majority of small projects as it offers a framework to undertake small incremental improvements from development of idea, testing, and implementing the change.
-
Training - We have launched a training pathway which utilises our own Change and Quality Improvement introduction and the NHS England and Improvement’s Quality Service Improvement and Re-design (QSIR) Virtual and Practitioner Programme.
- Charters – all Quality Improvement activities’ in the Trust complete a charter to capture the aim of the work and how success will be measured, how it supports the Trust’s strategic goals and lessons learnt from undertaking the work. The charters are posted on our Intranet pages so staff can review the projects from other services.
- Working closely with our Patient and Carer Experience Team – The Quality Improvement Approach supports Always Events framework (Healthcare Improvement (IHI), to identify, develop, and achieve improvement centered on and around the patient and family and the Yorkshire Patient Experience Toolkit.
- Celebration – The Trust holds monthly QI Consultancy Meeting to discuss projects, open doors and learn lessons and, also, bi-annual QI Forums to celebrate all the fantastic work which is being undertaken.
