Landmark Report Sent to NHS England from Chief Information Officers Across the Country
Published: 12 May 2026
Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust welcomes the publication of the CIO Live Insights Report, a landmark output from the first national gathering of NHS Chief Information Officers. The report has now been shared with NHS England by Lee Rickles, Chief Information Officer for Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and Deputy Chair for CIO Live Organising Committee, and its Chair Omer Moghraby.
The report is a direct response to the NHS 10 Year Plan and captures the collective experience, challenges and priorities of digital leaders across England. Its purpose is to set out a clear and practical roadmap for strengthening digital capability across the NHS.
The CIO Live event in 2025 which informed the report, was described as “a safe space for honest conversation, practical co‑production, and real connection”. The event brought together senior digital leaders from NHS Trusts, alongside national colleagues from NHS England and regional partners and this output report has now been published to drive and accelerate change.
Lee Rickles, Chief Information Officer at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and Deputy Chair for CIO Live Organising Committee said, “Publishing this report marks an important moment for the NHS digital community. It reflects the real challenges we face every day, but more importantly it sets out practical and collective solutions. The recommendations give us a clear mandate to strengthen collaboration, reduce duplication and ensure digital leadership is embedded at every level of national design. We are proud to have contributed to this work and will continue to champion the principles of shared learning, standardisation and neighbourhood‑focused digital delivery.”
The recommendations from the report will now be shared with national leaders, with a three‑month scoping phase and implementation planned for Q3 2026.
