Humber Business Week to Spotlight Neurodiversity in the Workplace
Published: 29 May 2026
Supporting staff in the workplace to embrace their own and their colleague’s neurodiversity is key when building a high-performance team. Now the local business community are being invited to learn more about inclusivity and reasonable adjustments at an event being led by NHS professionals.
During Humber Business Week, on Tuesday 2 June at 10am, the Neurodiversity Service from Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust will be offering advice and support in creating optimum working environments for all staff. This NHS-led event will take place all morning at The Edge in Hull, offering a central location for local businesses in Hull to attend.
With around 15% of the UK population considered to be neurodiverse, businesses can take the opportunity to begin to learn how to better support their staff and unlock their full potential. In the session, Clarissa Thompson and colleagues from the NHS Neurodiversity Service will share a ‘Neurodiversity in the Workplace Toolkit’, co-produced with neurodivergent staff to reflect real experiences and what genuinely works in practice.
“With increasing awareness and rising diagnoses of ADHD and autism, more employers are recognising the need to better understand neurodiversity and respond confidently to requests for support in the workplace. We wanted to create a session that gives businesses the insight and tools they need to make reasonable adjustments, support their people effectively and build workplaces that support everyone to thrive at work.” Clarissa Thompson, Clinical Team Lead, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
Designed for business leaders and HR teams, the session will help build confidence in supporting neurodivergent colleagues, improve retention and create working environments where people can thrive and perform at their best.
Attendees will discover practical ways to provide their neurodiverse workforce with a place to flourish and build a more inclusive, high-performing organisation. HR professionals and business leaders are encouraged to sign up for tickets to the event here - The Workforce Wellbeing Exchange Tickets, The Edge , Hull | TryBooking United Kingdom
