Trust Shortlisted for Four HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2025
Published: 13 June 2025

We are delighted to announce that four of our Humbelievable services and teams have been shortlisted in the upcoming HSJ Patient Safety Awards, recognising the Trust’s outstanding commitment to enhancing patient safety and quality of care.
The HSJ Patient Safety Awards, now in their 15th year, are widely regarded as a benchmark of excellence, celebrating individuals and teams who are making significant strides in improving safety across the health and care sectors. This year’s awards carry added weight, coming at the time the government prepares to implement its 10-year healthcare plan in 2025. The awards highlight the vital work being done to navigate the complexities of delivering safe, effective care amidst evolving challenges and ongoing system pressures.
Our Trust has been shortlisted in the following categories:
Learning Disabilities Initiative of the Year
• Connect Website: An innovative co-produced website designed by and for individuals with learning disabilities and their families, to provide accessible information and resources all in one place.
• Learning Disability Cancer Screening: A targeted initiative aimed at improving cancer screening uptake for patients with learning disabilities, addressing health inequalities and ensuring patients receive this vital health care service.
Improving Care for Children and Young People Initiative of the Year
• The Humber Eating Disorder Intensive Treatment Team (EDITT): The team offers intensive home-based treatment for children and young people with eating disorders, reducing hospital admissions and promoting recovery in their own environment.
Nursing-Led Patient Safety Initiative of the Year
• ‘Enhance’: Our pioneering support service to prevent prescription medication dependence, led by nursing professionals committed to safeguarding patients from the risks associated with medication misuse.
These multiple shortlisting recognitions underscore our Trust’s dedication to innovation and patient-centred care. These initiatives are excellent examples of our proactive approach to tackling some of the most pressing patient safety challenges, from supporting vulnerable populations locally to developing cutting-edge community-based treatments.
As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, our Trust remains consistent in delivering safe, compassionate and effective care for all our patients.
Congratulations to each of these teams ahead of the awards ceremony in September 2025 where the winners will be announced.
