Our Trust is proud to announce that we were selected to receive the KLAS Breakthrough Recognition Award highlighting fantastic results from the EPR (Electronic Patient Record) usability survey, conducted by NHS England, in partnership with Ethical Healthcare Consulting and KLAS Research.

The usability survey aimed to assess how effectively EPRs were supporting frontline healthcare professionals in their work. The survey gathers feedback on various aspects of EPRs, including functionality, implementation, infrastructure and clinical engagement, to identify areas for improvement and drive better adoption of these systems across the NHS.

Some of the Trust’s key improvements highlighted by the survey included the Net EPR Experience Score which increased from -13.6 in 2021 to 27.5 in 2024, representing a substantial shift towards a much more positive user experience.

They also showed a dramatic growth in the Infrastructure Score, a critical indicator of system reliability and performance, which rose from 2.9 in 2021 to 51.3 in 2024 and reflects improved system stability, speed and accessibility.

Another key statistic was found in the percentage of staff reporting burnout, which has seen a decrease from 41% in 2021 to 29% in 2024. Furthermore, the proportion of burned-out staff attributing this to the EPR has fallen even more significantly from 62% to 9%.

Paul Warwick, Clinical Safety Officer at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, received the award on behalf of the Trust when he attended the KLAS Global Summit held in Greece in June. The summit celebrates innovation, leadership and measurable impact across health and care systems.
