More Staff Than Ever Would Recommend Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust as a Place to Work

Published: 13 March 2026

On 12 March 2026, the latest NHS Staff Survey results were released illustrating how staff would rate the NHS organisation they work for. Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust have achieved the top spot for each of the NHS People Promise themes, within the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care System (ICS) region for NHS Trusts. It has also shown that over 70% of our staff would recommend the Trust as a place to work, a figure that has seen growth year on year.

When looking across the wider Northeast and Yorkshire region, including all ICS, Humber and North Yorkshire, North-East and North Cumbria, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, the Trust’s overall Advocacy score placed them 3rd out of 31 Trusts. The Advocacy score is fundamentally important as it highlights patient safety and reflects whether staff feel patient care is the organisation’s top priority, whether they would recommend them as a place to work and if they would be confident in the care provided to friends and family. This achievement emphasises the Trust’s commitment to patient care.

The NHS People Promise is a national commitment to creating a consistently positive, compassionate and supportive experience for everyone who works in the NHS. It comprises themes and words highlighting what matters most to staff and what makes the greatest difference in improving their experience in the workplace.

These themes cover staff perception of the NHS Trust under the titles of – We are compassionate and inclusive, We are recognised and rewarded, We each have a voice that counts, We are safe and healthy, We are always learning, We work flexibly, We are a team, Staff engagement and Morale.

Under each of these themes, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust outperformed the other NHS Trusts in the Integrated Care System (ICS) region of Humber and North Yorkshire. Within this ICS area there are a total of 5 NHS Trusts.

A key measure of staff satisfaction is taken from the survey’s question which asks staff if they would ‘recommend their organisation as a place to work’, which in the most recent results has improved year on year and now sits at 70.45% of staff agreeing they would.

These results represent a positive endorsement of the culture and leadership within Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and how highly regarded it is by its staff. The results come directly from the staff who work for the Trust, providing genuine insight and meaningful feedback that can be used to improve and develop year on year. Any areas where improvements can be made, these become the focus of the organisation to address and ultimately build on positive results annually.
