Medical Education Conference focuses on Children and Young People
Published: 30 October 2025
This year’s Medical Education Conference focussed on Children and Adolescent mental health (CAMHS), bringing together delegates from across the country for a day of insight and innovation. The event drew an enthusiastic audience of doctors with attendees from across the UK,including Cumbria, Manchester, Birmingham, Portsmouth, East Anglia and London, to take part in this highly engaging and educational event.
A special mention goes to Dr Piyush Satyawadi and Dr Syed Naqvi, whose leadership and commitment were instrumental in the planning and delivery of the conference. Their expertise and vision ensured that the event offered both clinical depth and meaningful opportunities for professional connection.
We were delighted to welcome a range of guest speakers who delivered thought-provoking presentations throughout the day, sparking discussion and reflection among attendees. The programme also featured an inspiring Art Exhibition, made possible by the Trust’s Humber Youth Action Group, who kindly provided the canvases and creative direction for a display.
Alongside the main sessions, several Humber teams set up exhibitor stands to showcase their work, sharing good practice and highlighting innovation across services. These included:
· Research & Development Team
· Quality Improvement
· Patient Experience (PACE) & EDI Team
· Medical Education
· Medical Staffing
· Voluntary Services & Recovery College
· Neuro Services – Diagnostic Team and Sensory Services
· CAMHS/Mental Health Support Service
Trust Chair, Caroline Flint, chaired the event which saw a number of engaging presentations, including insights into bipolar disorder in CAMHS, ADHD and Autism. The event concluded with a lively panel discussion chaired by the Trust’s Dr Soraya Mayet.
Behind the scenes, our Medical Education Team played a pivotal role in planning and coordinating every detail. Their dedication, in collaboration with the Andrew Sims Centre at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, was key to the event’s success. The event was captured in a highlight video on the day which will be available to view on our Medical Education intranet page.
For the full agenda and speakers please see the following Agenda.
Feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the high quality of the sessions, the professionalism of the organisation, and the welcoming atmosphere created by all involved.
The CAMHS Conference once again demonstrated the value of collaboration across teams, services and organisations in driving forward excellence in mental health care for young people.
