Media & Communications

Our Media & Communications team handle both internal and external communications on behalf of the Trust. This includes but is not limited to digital marketing campaigns, internal newsletters, social media, websites, media enquiries and public relations.

The team also handles all requests for content development, including photography and filming.

Media enquiries

The Communications Office is responsible for corporate communications and managing media relations on behalf of the Trust. All media enquiries will be evaluated by the Communications Team and dealt with appropriately to ensure that information given is accurate and up-to-date. However, we also have a duty to our patients and staff and therefore reserve the right to decline media requests if there is any potential conflict with the interests of the organisation.

Journalists can contact the media office on 01482 389297 or via the email HNF-TR.communications@nhs.net.

The communication office email inboxes are regularly checked during opening hours. Enquiries will be responded to as quickly as possible. If you have an urgent media enquiry out-of-hours, please call the switchboard on 01482 301700 and you will be directed to the on call manager.

Press releases

All our latest news and press releases are available here. If you are a member of the media and would like to be added to our distribution list for future news releases, please email your details to HNF-TR.communications@nhs.net.

Staff and Patient Interviews

All requests for interviewing, to take a photograph of or to film patients or staff or Trust premises must be made through the Communications office. We would appreciate as much notice as possible for these requests.

Consent and confidentiality

The confidentiality of our patients and staff is of paramount concern to us. We will not provide any information about an individual without their explicit consent to do so, or where appropriate, that of their next-of-kin.

Major incidents

In the event of a major incident, the major incident plan would be put into operation. A priority of this plan is to provide information to the media as quickly as possible from our major incident centre, which will be established at Trust Headquarters. During a major incident you will be given regular updates and the opportunity for interviews with key Trust staff, as is necessary.

Mental health reporting

Journalists looking for information on the most appropriate ways of reporting emotional crises or mental health issues - including suicide - may like to refer to the guidelines by the Samaritans which are supported by most media organisations and professional bodies.
