Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust held its Annual Members Meeting and AGM on 25 September 2025. As part of the event, the Trust welcomed local sports personality Dean Windass to the stage to take part in a question and answer session with Trust Chair Caroline Flint.
Dean captivated the audience with his genuine and honest perspectives on living with ADHD, stage 2 dementia and mental health struggles. He strongly advocated for open dialogue between people, particularly men who can often struggle more with discussing their mental health openly.
He bravely shared his own experience of low mental health, “My advice to anyone struggling is please talk to somebody, tell somebody. It’s really good to talk because it might save someone’s life, and it could be your own.”
Dean went on to highlight how important speaking up is and how he has found publicly talking about mental health such a positive force, “When I come and do talks about mental health, like I have today, it is to help other people, but it also really helps me, and I take a lot from it myself.”
Before his Q&A session, Dean was able to meet a number of Trust staff through the marketplace stall portion of the event, which saw services and teams sharing information on their exceptional work and recent innovations.
The final part of the event included a presentation from Trust Chief Executive Michele Moran who shared how much incredible progress has been made across the Trust over the last 12 months and looked ahead to what could be expected over the next year. The Trust’s Finance Director Pete Beckwith also shared the Trust’s financial review.
The whole event was well engaged with by staff and public who attended. It marks a fantastic opportunity to meet and share in the wide breadth of initiatives taking place throughout the Trust.
The event was filmed and can be watched on the Trust’s YouTube channel below.
