Published: 12 August 2025

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to share that we have been shortlisted in three categories of the exceptionally highly regarded Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2025. Three of our Trust’s most prominent initiatives have been identified as finalists in the awards, covering a broad range of work including neurodiversity, sustainability and mental health support.
Transforming Early Intervention and Diagnostics for Autism: Integrating Neurodiversity and Speech and Language Therapy Service: Shortlisted in the Early Intervention and Prevention for Children, Young People and Families Award category, for broadening the approach to supporting patients with autism.
Building a Greener NHS: Sustainable Estates, Engaged Communities, Lasting Impact: Shortlisted in the Towards Net Zero category, this highlights the importance placed within the Trust on sustainability and efficiencies for a greener future.
Mental Health Streaming in the Emergency Department: Shortlisted in the Patient Safety Award category, this initiative supports patients who present with mental health concerns within an acute setting of the Emergency Department.
These initiatives not only showcase our Trust’s outstanding achievements but also reflect how its work is already closely aligned with, and actively delivering on, the priorities set out in the recently launched NHS Long Term Plan.
This year’s awards received over 1,250 entries from across the health sector, with only 245 projects and individuals making it to the final shortlist. This achievement reflects the exceptional dedication, creativity, and impact of the Trust’s teams in delivering high-quality care and innovation.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in November 2025. Judging was carried out by a panel of respected leaders from across healthcare, including Matthew Style, Director General for Secondary Care and Integration at the Department of Health & Social Care; Mark Cubbon, Chief Executive Officer at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; and Amanda Doyle, National Director for Primary Care and Community Services at NHS England, alongside a number of esteemed NHS Chief Executives.
Being shortlisted in three categories is a great achievement for Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and shows the hard work and dedication of our staff. These projects are improving care, protecting the environment and supporting people earlier to make a real difference to the communities we serve.
