Forensic Psychologists

Huda Abdullahi, Assistant Psychologist and Katie Foy, Forensic Psychologist in training from the Forensic in-patient psychology team recently presented at the annual Division of Forensic Psychology. They were given this honour to speak about the team’s self-developed, substance misuse group programme; the Phoenix programme.

The Phoenix Progamme runs over four months and offers individuals the opportunity to develop their understanding of their problematic substance misuse and learn alternative coping strategies. The programme has been delivered on three occasions with 15 participants successfully completing the programme, and the team are currently delivering a group with six more participants.

At the conference Katie and Huda shared information about the programme, its development and evidence base, as well as reflections on working with individuals with dual diagnosis on an intensive programme and shared their learning from this work. The presentation received some great feedback, with lots of people showing a genuine interest in their work.

The Trust would like to congratulate both Huda and Katie for engaging with this opportunity, as well as delivering the programme with a complex client group.
