Exciting opportunity to become a Non-Executive Director for our Trust
Published: 31 July 2025

We are inviting applications for two Non-Executive Director positions, one of which will serve as Audit Chair, to join our Trust - an award-winning provider of health and social care services.
This is a unique opportunity for two individuals with passion, experience and integrity to contribute to an innovative organisation committed to delivering outstanding care.
Serving communities across Hull, East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, the Trust is proud of its reputation for compassionate, high-quality care and continuous drive for improvement. From mental health and community services, to learning disabilities and specialist care, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust brings together a wide range of services to our local population.
The successful candidates will join the Trust’s Board, which includes both Executive and Non-Executive Directors. Non-Executive Directors play a critical role in providing independent oversight, constructive challenge and strategic leadership. Their responsibilities include:
- Supporting the success of the organisation and promoting effective governance
- Setting strategic direction and ensuring robust risk and performance management
- Upholding the Trust’s values of Caring, Learning and Growing
One of the appointed Non-Executive Directors will also take on the role of Audit Chair, responsible for overseeing the Trust’s financial reporting, internal controls and audit processes. Candidates for this particular role should possess a strong background in finance, governance or audit and will ideally hold relevant qualifications or experience chairing similar committees.
The Board works closely with the Council of Governors, which represents staff and the public and holds the Non-Executive Directors and Chair to account. They are accountable for ensuring that the Trust operates effectively, efficiently, and economically.
These roles are ideal for individuals with board experience, a commitment to the values of the NHS and the ability to work collaboratively in a complex, forward-thinking organisation. The Trust strongly encourages applications from candidates who bring diverse perspectives and lived experience, ensuring leadership reflects the communities it serves.
This is more than just a leadership role; it is a chance to make a real difference.
Applications are now open and will close on Sunday 31 August.
