Creative Connections – join our art exhibition and workshops this World Mental Health Day!
Published: 01 August 2025

Following the success of last year’s exhibition, Inner Reflections, we’re inviting people from our local communities to get involved and join us at this year’s World Mental Health Day event.
Creative Connections will take place at Princes Quay (Ground Floor) in Hull, between 11am and 3pm on Friday 10 October 2025.
During the event, there will be an art exhibition on show, filled with artwork from patients, service users, friends and family and the public. There will also be a series of free art workshops and activities for visitors to get involved in on the day, such as doodle art and kintsugi (the Japanese art of mending broken pottery).
The event aims to demonstrate the power of creativity in building connections to support our mental health.
Real connections have never been more important. As social beings, we feel better when supported by those around us. But sometimes it can be difficult to build relationships or find the right words to say. By using creativity, you don’t have to find the words.
Research shows that getting involved in any type of art or creative process can support your mental health as it can boost mood, lower stress, improve social connections, reduce loneliness and promote self-discovery.
Get involved – we’d love to include your artwork!
As well as working with our service users and patients this year, we’re also inviting you, members of our local communities, to get involved and submit your artwork for the exhibition.
Artwork can include paintings, drawings, photography, and much more. You do not need to be a professional artist to get involved, we encourage you to get your creative ideas flowing and enjoy the process!
How to submit your art
Simply send your created artwork to the following address between 15th – 29th September 2025.

Important things to know when submitting artwork for our event:
- Ensure your artwork includes a label which outlines your name and a short description of your artwork. These must be written as you are happy to have them publicly displayed at the exhibition.
- Please do not send artwork outside of the dates above, as this is the only time we have storage space allocated.
- We cannot guarantee that we can include all artwork in the exhibition as this is dependent on how much we receive. Anything we cannot take with us on the day will be included in a digital gallery.
- Please note that we are not responsible for the returning of artwork after the event. For those who choose to submit artwork on this basis, please know that artwork can be collected from the event space at 4pm on Friday 10 October.
If you don’t wish to submit artwork, but are based locally, we encourage you to still get involved by joining us on the day to experience the power of creativity with us.
We look forward to seeing you there!
