Humber Youth Action Group
Working with young people to have their say in improving our services and get involved in Trust activities.
Our Trust has its own youth engagement group called the Humber Youth Action Group. It has been developed to bring those aged between 15-22 in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire together with the goal of helping our organisation improve its services for children and young people.

Those who join the group can meet other like-minded young people and come together to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences to help improve healthcare services for others. They are supported by Felicity Kettley, Engagement Coordinator for Children’s Services and Bethia Dennis, Engagement Manager for Children’s Services.
We are keen that young people, with lived experience of our services join and we consider their individual needs to ensure they feel confident in participating. If you would like to learn more or refer a young person to the group, you can email hnf-tr.HYAG@nhs.net.
What are the benefits to the young people who join?
They are supported to:
- learn more about health and wellbeing and how the NHS works.
- work alongside healthcare professionals and improve our services.
- meet new people, make friends, and grow confidence.
- gain new skills, access training, and improve their CV.
What are the benefits to our services?
By bringing engagement and co-production activities/projects to the young people within the Humber Youth Action Group, we ensure that our health services are right for young people, accessible and responsive to their needs.
You can:
- invite them to sit on interview panels for new members of staff for your service.
- enable them to co-produce your digital platforms and tools.
- gain their input around the care you deliver and your care plans.
- access their experiences and valuable input when designing new services or developing new ways of working.
- speak to them about your career and specialist knowledge, to grow their understanding of our Trust, the care we deliver, and help influence their career choices.
- utilise their knowledge of how to reach and engage other young people, such as through social media.
- and so much more.
How do I bring an engagement/co-production opportunity to the group?
