East Riding Partnership (ERP)

The East Riding Partnership is a formal partnership between our Trust and The Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS). The ERP provides a range of substance misuse services to adults across the East Riding of Yorkshire that delivered through the Open Access service, the Shared Care service and the Community Drug and Alcohol teams (CDAT).

Open Access Service

The team has an administrative base at 74 Lairgate in Beverley. They provide support to patients but also to carers, family members and professionals seeking advice or signposting to other services. In a number of centres this service is enhanced by providing a harm reduction clinic to patients. The open access service provides immediate access points to treatment and help and advice. Those concerned about drug or alcohol use can access the service at a number of venues across the East Riding. 

The interventions offered include:

  • drop in service for clients and carers
  • drug-related advice and information
  • needle exchange/support
  • triage assessments
  • signposting and onward referral
  • brief interventions
  • solution focussed counselling
  • motivational interviewing
  • cognitive behavioural groups
  • recovery planning and relapse prevention groups
  • referral to ERP Shared Care Services, ERP Community Drug and Alcohol Team, East Riding Specialist Drug Service and East Riding Community Alcohol Team 
The Team

A number of counsellors work across the East Riding liaising closely with a range of health and social care professionals. They operate with the support of a multi-disciplinary team, which includes a consultant psychiatrist, specialist general practitioner, clinical nurse specialist and a practice development specialist.

Shared Care Service

This service is delivered into a range of participating General Practice surgeries across the East Riding. The team has an administrative base at 74 Lairgate in Beverley. In this service, a shared care worker supports prescribing GPs with the management of their own practice patients who are experiencing problems with drug or alcohol use. This approach increases the number of locations across the area where drug and alcohol services are available to local people.

Community Drug and Alcohol Teams (CDAT):

This service offers prescribing and psychological interventions and has permanent bases in Goole and Bridlington. It also offers satellite clinics in other areas to ensure that those who need the service are able to access it. 

The service works with patients who have a primary drug problem but does have a remit for working with patients who have additional problems with their alcohol use. 

The main components of the service are:

  • comprehensive assessment
  • case management
  • substitute prescribing (titration and maintenance)
  • structured community detoxification
  • screening and assessment of co-morbid mental health problems
  • structured psychosocial interventions
  • liaison and joint working with mental health services
  • advice and consultation to other professional e.g. social services, housing, acute hospital
  • facilitate access to other services e.g. residential rehabilitation, inpatient care, mental health services etc
