Trust attends Bridlington drop in event to reassure changes to GP Practices Article

Following Bridlington Primary Care Network’s recent announcement about changes to General Practice in the local area, the ‘drop-in’ event, held at the Bridlington SPA on Wednesday 16 November, proved to be very popular with over 150 people attending.

The Trust currently operates two practices in Bridlington, Field House Surgery and Humber Primary Care.

The changes will see three GP practices; Field House Surgery; Practice One and Wolds View ceasing to operate from 31 March, with patients being transferred over to one of the two remaining practices in Bridlington; Humber Primary Care or Practice Three. The event on Wednesday gave local residents the opportunity to come along and chat face-to-face with health staff to ask questions and talk about their concerns.

Dr Priya Reddy, Bridlington Primary Care Network Clinical Director, said: “I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend the ‘drop-in’ session on Wednesday, as always it is a pleasure to meet with local people. We know that many people will be worried and hopefully this event has helped to reassure our patients that the changes will, in the longer-term, help to grow local services to meet the needs of Bridlington’s thriving population.

“Having two large practices in Bridlington will help to secure the future of Primary Care services. Larger practices find it easier to recruit and retain staff because they can offer career development, improved training facilities and opportunities for clinicians to specialise.

“The new arrangements will make it easier to share learning, clinical leadership/mentorship, and help to bring in new additional clinical roles including physician associate, pharmacists, paramedics, nurse practitioners and Musculo-skeletal practitioners. These additional staff, including GPs will mean people should see a clinician quicker.”

For those people who couldn’t come along, information shared at the event is available online at Improving primary care services in Bridlington — East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (eastridingofyorkshireccg.nhs.uk) These pages are regularly updated, so visiting frequently is recommended.  Hard copies are also available in GP practices.
