Inspire Inpatient Service has been nominated for 3 Design in Mental Health Awards

We are so very proud to announce that our Inspire Inpatient Service has been nominated for 3 awards at this year’s Design in Mental Health Awards.

The categories the team is nominated for are Service User Engagement, Project of the Year New Build, and Clinical Team.

This is an extraordinary achievement and a brilliant recognition of the continuous hard work done by all Inspire team members, since the building opening in January 2020.

The building of Inspire represents a major achievement for our Trust, bringing together a vast array of skills and experience from across the patch, to create an amazing much needed resource for local young people.

Before opening, the service worked very closely with young people and families to design a clinical environment that supports the team to deliver an innovative, trauma-informed model. This is something that incorporates up-to-date patient safety design features, which further ensure we’re able to offer a different inpatient experience for our young people.

In the last year, we have received a number of positive statements and feedback from young people, who recognise the positive benefits of the environment, stating that it “feels safe”.

Furthermore, the young people have had an ongoing positive effect on the building since we opened, influencing furniture design, and signage and on how spaces are used. We’re proud to say that their skills have been recognised by the architects who designed the building, who have since asked the young people at Inspire to support them in designing a new futuristic bedroom. This is going to be built and will be on display at the Design in Mental Health Conference in August.
