Trust shortlisted for four National Awards

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for four individual awards, including a nomination for Mental Health Provider of the Year, in the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2019. The nominations recognise the Trust’s outstanding contribution to healthcare across a range of areas including service provision and safety.

The Trust has been shortlisted for ‘Mental Health Provider of the Year’, ‘Acute Sector Innovation of the Year’, ‘Connecting Services and Information Award’, and the ‘Patient Safety Award’.

The judging panel, made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, have shortlisted the Trust from hundreds of outstanding applicants from across the country. The nominations acknowledge the positive impact on patient and staff experiences within each individual sector.

The nomination for Mental Health Provider of the Year Award acknowledges the Trust’s work over the last 12 months and the Trust’s continued commitment to staff and patients, The nomination also recognises the Trust’s work in putting patients at the centre of everything that they do, through real patient and carer engagement, as well as their focus on providing “Right Care, in the Right Place, First Time, Every Time”.

Three of the four nominations (Acute Sector Innovation of the Year, Connecting Services and Information Award, and the Patient Safety Award) acknowledge the work of the Frequent Attenders Service.

This Service works with primary care and community teams to help prevent unnecessary A&E attendances by frequent attenders and people with medically unexplained symptoms. The team primarily work with people who have long term conditions, substance misuse problems, complex social needs and a combination of multiple deteriorating health problems which often result in intensive health seeking behaviours which have a huge impact on the A&E department.

Chief Executive of the Trust, Michele Moran said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the Frequent Attenders Service. To be recognised and shortlisted for one award is a fantastic achievement, but to be nominated for three is outstanding”.

Alongside these nominations, Humber Coast and Vale Mental Health Partnership whose Partnership Board is chaired by Trust Chief Executive, Michele Moran has received a nomination for System Leadership Initiative of the Year.
