NHS 70

On 5 July 2018 the NHS turned 70. with this year being such a huge milestone, it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the nation’s favourite institution, to look at the wide range of treatments being created by advances in science, technology and information, and to thank the extraordinary NHS staff – the everyday heroes – who are always there to greet, advise and care for us.

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust will be taking part in various events throughout the year to mark this incredible milestone.

The 70th birthday allows us to celebrate the hard work and commitment of NHS staff, profile their skills, experience and successes and recognise the challenges they face.

It’s also a time to look back over the last 70 years, celebrate key developments and breakthroughs, and look forward and build confidence about the NHS’s long-term future.

In addition, it’s a great chance to let people know about the many ways in which they can support the NHS – from volunteering and using services wisely, through to giving blood and raising money for NHS charities.

See our 'Events' page on the right for further information.

Trust Chief Executive Michele Moran said: “The NHS’s 70th birthday is an ideal moment to reflect on seven decades of clinical progress and improvements to patient care. Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust has seen huge changes in services, staff training, technological advances and our integration into the communities we serve.

“It is important that we take time to thank our extraordinary staff and volunteers for all they have done to care for our patients and ensure the smooth running of our services.”
