Proud to be re-accredited by the UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold Award!

Published: 23 June 2022 to 31 December 2098

We are pleased to announce that we have been successful in maintaining our UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold Award accreditation for another year.

As part of our Annual Review, the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) acknowledged the quality of our Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing (ISPHN) service’s work and the positive outcomes being achieved as a result. Our protection of infant feeding and exciting progression through various initiatives, despite the challenges of the pandemic, were also recognised.

Messages from our Baby Friendly Guardians:

“As Baby Friendly Guardians we would like to take this opportunity to thank those involved in the care of mothers, babies and families and the implementation of the UNICEFUK Baby Friendly Standards.

This is an outstanding achievement for our integrated services, and despite the challenges of the pandemic our fabulous staff were still there to provide help and support for expectant and new parents. As Guardians we would like to thank them for supporting families, implementing the Baby Friendly Standards and making a difference.

– Michele Moran, Chief Executive, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust

“The work of the team involved with the Baby Friendly Initiative impacts a hugely important group of our residents by supporting new families to gain confidence and access services where needed.  We are all aware of the tremendous impact we can make to a child's future by having the right start in life, those first 1000 days are so important.

The BFI program is well placed to give the support needed to make that difference. I'd like to say a massive WELL DONE to all involved with yet again achieving the Gold Standard and thank you for all the hard work and dedication.  This really does show how, by working closely with partners, we can achieve so much.”

– Councillor Victoria Aitken, East Riding of Yorkshire Council

Please join us in sending our well-deserving colleagues a big congratulations. To all involved in implementing the BFI standards to improve care for mothers, babies, and families - well done!
