NHS Chief Exec to ‘run the Trust’ in 12 hour charity treadmill challenge

NHS Chief Exec to ‘run the Trust’ in 12 hour charity treadmill challenge
09 October 2018

A health service boss is set to take part in an exhaustive walking challenge from her office at Willerby Hill.

Michele Moran, Chief Executive of Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust will be managing her day from a treadmill set up in her office, all to raise funds for the organisation’s charity, Health Stars.

From meetings to calls, business will be as usual for Michele, who is going the extra mile to put in a strong finish for the Trust’s Health Star Stepper Challenge which has been a huge hit amongst staff this autumn.

Encouraging staff to nurture their wellbeing, the Trust kicked off a step challenge last month with over 50 teams taking part, all with the hopes of grabbing the glory, and grand prize, for the team who did the most steps.

Michele’s challenge takes place on 18 October and she hopes to raise awareness of how incredible Health Stars are and highlight all the brilliant work they’ve done to help communities across the region.

Michele said: “We have recently held a Steppers Challenge across the Trust to encourage staff to become more active.  So many staff got involved and this is my way of carrying on the challenge and raising funds for Health Stars.

“Money from this event will help Health Stars improve the experiences of patients, carers and staff right across the Trust.”

Established in 2016, Health Stars has granted over 250 wishes to enhance care and the services provided by the Trust to more than 800,000 people in Hull, East Riding and North Yorkshire.

The charity raises money through various fundraising activities and also manages legacies left to the Trust, ensuring that they are used in the most effective way possible, while respecting the wishes of the person who made the legacy.

Head of Fundraising for Health Stars, Clare Woodard said: “We’ve already has a great response from local business wanting to help us. Hull firm Exercise.co.uk is delighted to be involved and is kindly supplying the treadmill.

“This promises to be a great event, and we are so grateful to Michele for putting herself forward.

“All sponsorship and donations will go towards enhancing core services for patients and staff and will make a real local difference.”
