CAMHS Build - March 2019 News Update

Building update:

  • We are currently on week thirty-one of the building works at the CAMHS with builders Houlton’s working closely with Adelaide primary this past month by engaging with the staff and parents.
  • The site has enforced material delivery curfew hours which are between 9:00 & 15:00 to help keep the site safe for the local community.
  • Houlton’s have conducted an assembly with Adelaide primary school with regards to safety when crossing the site entrance. They explained the role of Bob, the Gateman and why builders wear personal protective equipment.
  • Throughout this month the builders have been working on:
    • Completion of last reinforced concrete slab
    • Roof installation to phases 3, 4, and 5A
    • 1st Fix M&E to CAMHS
    • 1st Fix Internal partition walls to CAMHS
    • 3rd Fix M&E to Children Centre
    • Vinyl flooring to Children Centre refurbishment
    • Decoration to Children Centre refurbishment

Recruitment news:

  • The social media campaign to recruit Band 5 and 6 Nurses went really well and we have had a good response.
  • Paul Warwick is very happy to talk to anyone who is interested in working in the new service particularly Band 6 Nurses.
  • Don’t forget the Trust are running a ‘refer a friend scheme’ for Band 5/6 Nurses!

Impact Appeal update:

  • The Impact Appeal is gaining support every week and Health Stars are grateful to everyone who is getting involved.
  • Local businesses, community groups, schools and individuals have been fundraising and raising awareness for the new CAMHS Unit.
  • The Cave Players amateur dramatics group recently presented a cheque for £300 following their production of Jack and The Beanstalk. 
  • An evening of great food and wine was organised by Kathryn Shillito at 1884. Guests enjoyed great music curtesy of the amazing “Two Pianos”  whilst raising over £2500 especially towards the music facilities at the new unit. 
  • Tesco in Withernsea will be supporting the Impact Appeal throughout May and June via their Bags of Help scheme – shoppers can vote for their favourite charity with the blue tokens.
  • Local call centre business RESQ are championing the Impact appeal and running fundraising events at the their Hull based office throughout 2019.  There will be special breakfast event on 9 May to encourage other local businesses to get on board. RESQ Hull are also holding a charity football match in May where they will lock horns with their sister site to raise funds for Impact Appeal.
  • The Avenues Open Gardens scheme will this year be supporting the Impact Appeal. During the first 2 weekends of July you have the opportunity to visit some stunning gardens in the Avenues area of Hull, enjoy tea and cake and helping some really great charities.
