We provide an outpatient-based physiotherapy service to patients across the East Riding with disorders of the neuromuscular system such as back pain, joint and tendon conditions and after secondary care intervention following orthopaedic surgery and fractures. Patients can access the service themselves or by referral from their GP, Consultant or other health professional.
Patients can refer themselves to physiotherapy even without seeing their GP by ringing the Physio Direct telephone advice service on 01377 208300. This telephone based service provides assessment, triage, and self-management programmes to patients. We can email or post bespoke home exercises and patient advice and information leaflets, for example on neck and back pain or soft tissue injuries direct to patients following the telephone assessment.
Joint Effort is part of the physiotherapy MSK service delivered by very specialised physiotherapists called ESP’s (Extended Scope Practitioners) and Orthopaedic Consultants. The team provides diagnosis and clinical management plans for patients with more complex musculoskeletal problems who do not necessarily require surgery or secondary care.
A number of our physiotherapists use acupuncture and corticosteroid injections for peripheral conditions as part of an overall treatment package.
The service is provided across the East Riding at convenient locations in hospitals, health centres and GP surgeries.
