In order to help the Trust achieve its public sector duty in relation to The Equality Act 2010 the Trust will be implementing the NHS Equality Delivery System (EDS) which has four goals:

  1. 1. Better health outcomes for all
  2. 2. Improved patient access and experience
  3. 3. Empowered, engaged and included staff
  4. 4. Inclusive leadership at all levels

In December 2011 the Trust Board undertook a self-assessment against EDS outcome 4 (to be published).

At the January 2012 Trust E&D Steering Group meeting staff conducted a self-assessment against the EDS outcomes 3 and 4 (to be published). This will be further consulted upon with a staff focus group in February/March, which in turn will produce objectives both for the EDS and our public sector duties under the Equality Act 2010 in April.
