Intensive Home-Based Treatment

The Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team also runs the Intensive Home-Based Treatment (IHBT) team for Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire. The team is a 24/7 alternative to an acute mental health admission to an inpatient unit. Home-based treatment focuses on keeping people out of hospital by providing care in their own home, in an appropriate community setting or virtually.

During an episode of care with the IHBT team, you will have a collaborative care plan established which identifies your needs and what interventions will be completed. You may see a range of clinicians during your period of care with various professional backgrounds who are responsible for completing an area of the care plan with you. There is no one-size fits all approach to IHBT and therefore your care is personalised according to your recovery needs. Although a short term intervention, your longer term needs will be considered and appropriate plans put in place with collaboration with you and your family.

The IHBT team mainly works between 8.00am and 8.30pm. Any support required outside these hours will be conducted by the Mental Health Crisis Team.

Access to the IHBT is completed by professional referral from a Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust service.
