Community Respiratory Services (Scarborough, Ryedale and Whitby)

A specialist multidisciplinary team providing community based care for adults with chronic respiratory conditions in the Scarborough, Ryedale & Whitby areas.

The Team

Our Community Respiratory Services are a small team consisting of a specialist respiratory physiotherapist, specialist respiratory nurses and an assistant practitioner. We provide a proactive and holistic approach to our care and liaise regularly with other services as appropriate. Our aim is to deliver patient centred care and treatment in the following services:

Pulmonary Rehabilitation – Exercise and education programme designed to help patients with chronic lung conditions to improve breathlessness, increase exercise tolerance and gain a better understanding of how to manage their symptoms.

Respiratory Physiotherapy - Individualised advice and treatment to help patients with lung conditions, teaching techniques such as chest clearance and breathing control.

Respiratory Nursing – Advice, support and education to patients with chronic respiratory conditions in­ managing symptoms & optimisation of respiratory medication.

Home Oxygen Service -Assesses, prescribes, and reviews patients requiring oxygen at home to determine what supply and equipment is appropriate for their condition.

The team regularly liaises with GP’s, primary, social and secondary care teams to provide support and advice in the management of respiratory patients.

Opening Times

Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm. If you have any queries or concerns outside of these hours, please contact your GP/111/999 as appropriate.
